Whole Life Insurance in Pearland
Whole life is permanent coverage. It has a premium that stays level for life, a death benefit that does not expire, and cash value that grows on a fixed schedule. Before you commit, we put the premium, the guarantees and every rider in writing.
What Whole Life Insurance Is and When It Fits
A whole life policy covers you until death, not for a set term. Part of each premium pays the cost of insurance. Part builds a reserve the insurer holds against the policy, which shows up as cash value. Because the premium is priced for a lifetime, it starts higher than term life for the same face amount. Then it never rises.
Whole life makes sense when the need is permanent. Common examples are an estate that will owe final costs, a child with lifelong care needs, a business succession plan, or simply wanting your beneficiary to receive something no matter when you die. If your need ends when the mortgage is paid or the kids are grown, term life or mortgage protection insurance usually does the job for less, and we will tell you so.
We work with clients in Pearland, Friendswood and the surrounding area. Every quote comes as a written illustration that shows guaranteed values in one column and non-guaranteed projections in another, so nothing in the policy surprises you later.
What Your Whole Life Quote Includes
Guaranteed values and projections
The illustration shows guaranteed cash value and death benefit for every year. Figures based on dividends appear in their own column marked not guaranteed. We go through both with you.
Ways to pay the premium
Premiums can be paid for life, over a limited span like 10 or 20 years, or up to a certain age. Shorter schedules cost more each year but end sooner. We line each option up next to the others.
Every rider on its own line
Waiver of premium, accelerated death benefit, child term and paid-up additions riders all affect the price. Each is listed separately with its own charge, and nothing is bundled in without your approval.
Loans and surrender terms
We cover how much cash value you can borrow, how loan interest builds and how an unpaid loan lowers the death benefit. We also show what surrendering would pay in the early years, when surrender values are at their lowest.
Naming beneficiaries
We help you set up primary and contingent beneficiaries properly, including how to handle a minor or a trust. A clear designation keeps the benefit away from probate delays.
When Whole Life May Fit Best
Your term coverage is about to end
Renewing term in your 60s can cost much more than you first paid. Some term policies convert to whole life without a new medical exam, but that option expires, so look at it early.
Someone will rely on you for life
A dependent with special needs or a spouse without retirement income needs coverage that will not lapse at 70. Whole life is designed for that.
You like steady, built-in saving
Cash value grows at a guaranteed rate whatever the market does. It is not an investment account, but some clients appreciate the routine and the floor.
Your business needs buy-sell funding
Business partners often hold permanent policies on one another so the surviving owner has money to buy out the estate. Whole life keeps that money in place for the life of the partnership.
You want your final costs handled
If the main aim is a smaller benefit for funeral and estate costs, final expense insurance could be a better match. We put the two side by side in writing.
How We Put Your Policy Together
- 1
Needs conversation by phone
We ask what the coverage must accomplish, who depends on you, and what premium fits your budget. That sets the face amount before any pricing starts.
- 2
Written illustration
You receive an illustration with the premium, the pay period, every rider and its cost, and the guaranteed values. Questions get answered before an application exists.
- 3
Application and underwriting
The insurer reviews your health history, prescriptions and often a paramedical exam with blood work and vitals. The results set your rate class, which affects the final premium. If it differs from the quote, we show you the revised numbers in writing.
- 4
Delivery and review
When the policy arrives, we compare it against the illustration with you. We confirm the beneficiaries and explain the review period during which you can still cancel.
What Moves the Price of Whole Life Coverage
Whole life premiums are set once at issue and then stay fixed, so the factors below matter most on the day you apply. We spell out how each one affects your number in the written quote. If something changes during underwriting, you see the new figure before you agree to it.
- Age at issue
- Each year you wait raises the level premium. That is because the insurer has fewer years to collect premiums and build the reserve.
- Health and tobacco use
- Underwriting places you in a rate class, from preferred to standard to rated. Nicotine use alone can sharply increase the cost.
- Face amount and pay period
- A larger death benefit costs more. So does compressing payments into 10 or 20 years instead of paying for life.
- Riders and dividend options
- Each rider adds its own charge. On a participating policy, choosing to buy paid-up additions with dividends grows coverage over time without raising the base premium.
Questions About Whole Life Coverage
Something not covered here? (281) 984-5691
Does whole life beat term life?
Not in every case. Term life covers a fixed period for less money, and whole life covers your entire life while building cash value. Plenty of clients are best served by term, and some need both. We give you both in writing so you can compare real figures.
Is a dividend guaranteed?
No. Dividends on participating policies rest on the insurer's investment returns, claims and expenses, and they can vary each year. Only the guaranteed column of your illustration is part of the contract.
Can I take a loan against the cash value?
Yes, after enough cash value has accumulated. Interest builds on the loan, and any balance still owed at death comes out of your beneficiary's payment. Borrowing too much can also make the policy lapse, so we cover the limits before you borrow.
What if I stop paying premiums?
Whole life comes with nonforfeiture options. You can cash out the surrender value, switch to a reduced paid-up policy with a smaller lifelong benefit, or use the value for extended term coverage. We talk through which choice fits before you change anything.
Is a medical exam part of it?
Most fully underwritten whole life policies need one, usually a brief paramedical visit. Some smaller policies rely on health questions alone through simplified underwriting, and those tend to cost more per dollar of coverage.
